Welcome to SAS Watch Company Ltd.

We are a new watch company located in Ireland. We design our own watches and we then have them made in Switzerland. SAS stands for SEA, AIR & SPORT and this will be the main focus of our designs. The SEA watches range will consist of diver’s models, the AIR range will have a more sophisticated pilot’s style and the SPORT range will mainly consist of chronographs.

SEA-1

Our first design is a diver’s time piece. We wanted to bring out something that had great specifications and would appeal to genuine divers, who use their watch as a tool of their profession. The first stage on the design process was deciding on a depth rating.  We felt that 1000 meters was a good starting point for a professional divers watch  and designed the case from there. We designed a 44mm wide case and as we wanted to keep the lug distance to a minimum, for comfort and aesthetics, we designed the case with a slight taper. In this way we could shorten the lug distance but still have enough space to use different styles of straps. It also uses Allen head screws to make it easier to change straps, as we know most of you love to change straps! A suitable screwdriver is included with the watch.

Next step was the bezel design. We wanted to create something a little different to the norm while still offering something functional and tough.  All the area around the numbers and minute marks have been deep etched and then PVD’d. By doing so the black area should not flake off like paint would.

The dial uses a sandwich construction where the hour indexes are cut out of the dial and the luminescent material (superluminova C3) is applied to a separate layer underneath the dial. Therefore we can add quite a lot of lume material making the watch readable long into the night.

The glass is made from over 4mm of scratch resistant sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating on the inside. It also has a screw down locking ring that prevents it from coming loose due to any pressure differential between the inside and outside of the watch. Also as a secondary back up to this we have installed an automatic helium escape valve (HEV) to discharge any helium that can build up for saturation divers.

This model will use a Swiss ETA 2824-2 movement, which is a very popular movement throughout the watch industry. The movement will also be encased in an antimagnetic shield to prevent it from any effects from magnetism.

This first edition which is limited to 100 pieces comes with the following extras:  handmade presentation box made from recycled teak with a brass name plate, special engraved caseback and it will include a strap and a metal bracelet.  A standard production run of this model will then follow.
